Twenty-six mile scenic trail on the old rail line from Windham to Putnam. Various access points: James l. Goodwin Forest Hampton or CT Audobons Bafflin Sanctuary Pomfret or behind Willi Bowl in N. Windham. Bring your own horse and enjoy horseback riding on the trails.Air Line State Park Trail (South Section) This trail follows the path of the Air Line Railroad once the shortest route between New York and Boston. The trail is from East Hampton to Lebanon making it one of the longest stretches in Connecticut for biking hiking or horseback riding. The Air Line South connects with the Air Line North and the Hop River State Park Trails in Willimantic.Air Line State Park Trail (North Section) A continuation of the Air Line from Willimantic and eventually through to Thompson. This stretch is located within the Quinebaug-Shetucket Rivers National Heritage Corridor and it is a key link in a proposed interstate trail system.
