Route 169, a designated National Scenic Byway, can be accessed from the Hartford area via Routes 6 or 44, or from points north or south via Route 395. Traverse one of the last unspoiled areas in the northeastern U.S. This byway winds through history, passing colonial homesteads, churches, cemeteries, stonewalls, meeting houses and private schools, as it connects classic New England towns. Views include maple and pine stands and glacially deposited rocks and boulders that lie strewn throughout fields.
