The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra launches its 65th anniversary season with the concert series entitled “Silver Screen & Golden Tones.” Music Director & Conductor, Toshiyuki Shimada, has programmed 6 concerts from October through April each will feature music from movie classics. Performances are at the Garde Arts Center in New London and begin at 8 PM. Pre-Concert Lectures at 7 PM and free post-concert champagne receptions gives the audience the opportunity to meet the music director, soloist, and musicians. Subscriptions are now on sale at the ECSO office 860-443-2876. Single tickets are available after September 15th.

October 22nd “Celebratory Opening” includes music from Korngold’s King’s Row, Liszt’s Piano Concert No. 1 played by Gleb Ivanov, who was touted in the current issue of SYMPHONY magazine as a star on the rise. Mahler’s huge Symphony No. 6 concludes the evening’s entertainment.
