Greg has played with a variety of bands since the age of 13. In company with his Roomful compatriots, Greg Piccolo is one of the guys that reintroduced swing to America in a popular sense. The swing revival of the nineties would never have happened without Roomful of Blues pointing the way during the seventies and eighties.

A Day of Rose

"A Day of Rose" hosted by Tracy Barrette from Hartley and Parker Inc. french for "pink" or "rose colored", rose' is used in the wine world to refer to wines of this color. Draining the juice off of the skins of red grapes within 2-3 days, and allowing it to ferment in another vessel produces wines with low to medium alcohol content, lively acidity, and perfumy fruity aromas and flavors. Event begins promptly at 5:30pm.

Lobster Days

Lobsters in the rough are served up Saturday to Monday, 11am - 3pm, by the Rotary Club of Mystic. Lobster platters are served picnic-style under Mystic Seaport's open-air Boat Shed where diners can watch boats cruising on the Mystic River and enjoy musical entertainment by Finest Kind. Proceeds from Memorial Day Weekend are distributed to local charities supported by the club.
Lobster platters include cole slaw, corn on the cob, drawn butter and choice of iced tea or lemonade. A hot dog platter is also available for $7. A cash bar will be available for additional beverages. Museum admission is required to attend Lobster Days. Food costs do not include price of admission, unless a combo ticket is purchased.

Price: $21 for a single lobster and $37 for twin lobsters. Or purchase a special combination ticket of Museum admission and a single lobster dinner for $36 for adults and $32 for a youth (6-17) combo ticket.

Antique & Classic Boat Rendezvous

The Antique & Classic Boat Rendezvous is a dazzling display of high-quality antique vessels built before 1963, including cruisers, sailboats, runabouts, launches, and more. An award competition recognizes excellence in restoration, authenticity, and workmanship, among other criteria. Dressed and in pristine condition, approximately 50 classic vessels create a colorful gathering along the Museum’s waterfront all day Saturday and Sunday morning for your viewing pleasure. Sunday at 12:30 p.m., the Museum's National Historic Landmark steamboat Sabino leads the vessels in a jubilant, costume and music-filled three-mile parade down the Mystic River.

Melville Marathon

Visitors are invited to participate in the marathon, which includes spending the night aboard the Charles W. Morgan, the last wooden whaleship in the world. Copies of the novel are available for those who want to follow the reading. Visitors, staff, and volunteers can choose to take turns reading chapters throughout the marathon, except for chapter 1, "Loomings," and the Epilogue, both of which are read by an actor portraying Mr. Melville himself! A great white birthday cake arrives at noon on August 1st, marking the end of the marathon.

Climb into your shell, or simply enjoy the shoreside view, as rowing vessels race against time during our 16th Annual Coastweeks Regatta, a celebration of a truly benign use of our marine environment. The Regatta offers events in a range of masters, open, collegiate and junior categories. Singles, doubles, and fours will race; participants must pre-register and bring their own shells. During the racing, enjoy music from a Dixieland band. Participants may visit the Museum for free; their guests may visit at a special group rate. September 21, marks our 11th Annual "By Land and By Sea: Antique Vehicles at Mystic Seaport" show. See the village, waterfront and ships bustle with activity as early 20th century cars, trucks and motorcycles go about the daily business of the 1920s. Enjoy a ride in one of these classic vehicles and experience the 20th century's newest mode of transportation. Rides originate next to the L.A. Dunton. View a recreated 1920s farmers market and recall an age when motor vehicles connected inland farms with coastal communities, transporting products in each direction. Cap off the day while watching the grand parade of vehicles at 3 p.m. as they circle Museum grounds in the annual event finale. It's a sight to behold! National Estuaries Day & Cleanup

Then, the following day on September 28 from 10am to 1pm you can help clean up our local estuary at Bluff Point State Park in Groton, CT. You'll be joining millions of others around the world as we participate in the annual International Coastal Clean-Up Initiative. Activities are free with the cost of admission.

At Mystic Seaport's annual Chowderfest, visitors taste the best chowder anywhere, delectable seafood specialties, seasonal desserts and beer, wine and apple cider. And there's more on the menu than great food. Stroll through the village and enjoy live music by Finest Kind and the Mystic Seaport Chanteymen. Bring the kids to enjoy a "clammy" art project and story time in the Children's Museum. Learn about late summer stars and the mariner under the Planetarium dome. Or, climb aboard our steamboat Sabino for a closer look at the colorful foliage. Chowderfest is held annually on Columbus Day weekend. Cost for chowder and other items is in addition to Museum admission. A portion of Chowderfest proceeds benefit the Museum and the Special Olympics of Connecticut.
