HIDDEN JEWELS AT MYSTIC SEAPORT

Mystic River Scale Model

Painstakingly researched and hand-crafted over decades, this spectacular 50 foot-long model gives visitors a dramatic bird's eye view of history. It features more than 250 detailed dwellings, shops, barn and lofts, as well as five local shipyards that once existed in the Mystic area - exactly as they appeared in 1870. Dramatic lighting and 3/32 scale ships make the experience even more magical. More >

The Benjamin F. Packard Cabin

Not much is left of The Benjamin F. Packard, a 244-foot square rigged sailing ship that hauled cargoes around Cape Horn in the late 19th century - but what there is testifies to the overall magnificence of the ship. Aftercabin paneling and some interior furnishings were plucked from the Packard before she was scuttled in 1938, enough to re-create the captain's stateroom, his day cabin (with its rich goldleafed panels), and the officers mess cabin - and to give visitors a feel for the age.
